Business plan template
Specialist SaaS software
Founder-developed B2B software with a working prototype before month one and monthly French subscriptions; no custom development, health data, costly AI or prepaid annual terms.

The project
What this template helps you prepare
The model tracks monthly acquisition and churn. Trials and free users produce no revenue; prototype work before this period needs separate funding.
Assess demand
Choose a narrow problem and verify the buyer. Target-company counts do not prove conversion to paid accounts.
The figures
A fictional case to explain the calculations. The amounts below are neither industry averages nor profitability targets.
- Sales over 12 months
- €39,421
- Profit over 12 months
- €2,602
- Lowest cash balance over 36 months, before the deposit reserve
- €11,685
The director’s planned remuneration
The result in this example assumes lower remuneration at startup, followed by increases according to the schedule below.
- Months 1 to 3
- €250 gross per month
- Months 4 to 6
- €400 gross per month
- Months 7 to 12
- €750 gross per month
- Months 13 to 36
- €1,500 gross per month
Year 1: €6,450 gross paid to the director, costing the business €9,353 with the assumed employer contributions.
These amounts are before employee contributions and personal income tax. The director’s personal budget and the resources to cover it during startup must be planned separately; no benefits are assumed.
Separate new accounts from active accounts
The case starts with no customers, adds eight in month one and applies 4% monthly churn. New accounts are not lifetime retained sales; every cohort may leave.
Fund work before launch
The €4,000 excluding VAT asset budget does not buy a complete outsourced product. A developer-founder with a ready prototype is assumed; external work or extra months needs additional scheduling and funds.
Build the financial forecast
The assumptions behind the figures
Pricing and average sale
The €39 excluding VAT monthly account price is a value assumption to test with initial customers. Hosting and payment prices do not prove willingness to buy this software.
Volume and ramp-up
The case starts with zero customers and 8 new subscriptions in month one. Assumed monthly churn is 4.00%. Acquisition has its own schedule; revenue uses remaining active accounts without annual prepayments. Replace conversion and churn with project evidence.
Sales-related costs
The €3 excluding VAT per active account allows for variable use alongside €180 monthly hosting and card fees. Test heavy users’ cost. The case adds 2.2% of receipts including VAT and €0.25 per billed account or delivery, assuming standard EEA cards and Stripe Billing.
Time and production capacity
Six minutes per active account measures recurring support, not all development. The founder also reserves an assumed hundred monthly hours for sales, maintenance and changes.
The parameters that matter
Before using the template figures, check how these points apply to your project.
Which problem triggers a paid purchase?
What does the heaviest user cost?
Are the prototype and personal budget funded?
